Why Write About the Fire?

Welcome. In the city of Damascus, more than six hundred years ago, a great scholar sat down to write a book that frightened him. His name was Ibn Rajab.

He explains why. Allah created us to know Him, to worship Him, and to stand in awe of Him. And in the Qur'an, He describes the Fire again and again. Not to make us despair, but to wake us up. With this, He says, Allah frightens His servants.

Ibn Rajab saw the people of his time growing lazy. Sliding into their desires. Hoping for Paradise without walking toward it. And he said something worth remembering. Desires leave the heart in only two ways. Through a fear that shakes you awake, or a longing that lifts you up.

This book is the fear. Thirty chapters of it. But listen closely, because inside it is a door.

For whoever fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens. Mujahid explained it simply. It is the man who is about to sin, remembers Allah, and walks away.
