Key ideas in The Best Remembrance

1. The Speech of Allah in Your Hands

Holding the Qur’an is holding Allah’s own words, which deserves reverence before you even open it.

2. Slowly, With Tears

Recite slowly, listen with the heart, and let the verses move you; this is how the early Muslims read.

3. A Book That Will Speak for You

The Qur’an will intercede for those who lived with it, so make it your companion, not a stranger.

A Judge Who Wrote About Remembrance

🎧 Listen to this chapter (2 min)

Welcome. Seven hundred and fifty years ago, a scholar from the city of Cordoba in al-Andalus settled in a quiet village in Egypt. His name was al-Qurtubi.

Today he is famous for one of the greatest commentaries on the Qur’an ever written. Many large volumes. But he also wrote a much smaller book. A gentle one. Meant not for scholars, but for anyone who wants to live with the Qur’an.

He called it The Reminder on the Best of Remembrances.

People often think of remembrance as saying glory be to God, or praise be to God, again and again. And those are beautiful. But al-Qurtubi says the very best remembrance is the Qur’an itself. Because in it, God remembers you with His own words.

This book is a small guide to that remembrance. What the Qur’an is. Who its people are. How to recite it, listen to it, and carry it in a way that pleases God.
