The Light from the East: How Islam Reshaped the World
The rise of Muslims from Arabia reshaped human destiny. Their leadership aimed for a united world guided by righteousness and faith. Grounded in the Qur’an and Shariah, they avoided subjective judgment, embracing justice and equity.
Under Prophet Muhammad’s guidance, they valued humility and accountability over power. They abhorred falsehood and injustice, building a just polity free from abuse of power. Their leadership upheld equality, disregarding race or nationality.
The Islamic Commonwealth fostered a society sans national or hereditary distinctions. Non-Arabs excelled in various fields, showcasing equality. Muslim civilisation balanced material and spiritual progress, nurturing all aspects of human development.
Unlike societies swinging between materialism and asceticism, Muslims sought a balanced approach, recognising the need for comprehensive progress encompassing physical, emotional, social, moral, mental, and spiritual aspects.
The Muslim era, guided by divine principles, achieved holistic progress across human life’s facets. The companions of Prophet Muhammad embodied a blend of religion, morality, and politics.
The son of ‘Amr ibn al-‘As, the Governor of Egypt, whipped an Egyptian commoner, prompting the matter to reach Caliph ‘Umar’s attention. Despite the high status of the offender’s father, ‘Umar disregarded it and ordered the Egyptian to seek vengeance for the harm. Addressing the offender’s father, ‘Umar rebuked him, questioning why he treated free people as slaves.
The Khilafah Rashidah era harmonised material, moral, and spiritual aspects, prioritising integrity over worldly glory. Crime rates stayed low due to moral training.
Muslim soldiers were praised for devoutness in warfare, displaying integrity and equality. Their honesty in handling treasures earned admiration.
Islam sees life as a Divine gift for spiritual growth and moral betterment. Humans are entrusted to uphold justice and peace on Earth.
Islamic teachings stress individual moral responsibility, aiming for moral development and societal well-being. Every action is a choice between right and wrong, emphasising the pursuit of righteousness and justice.
The rise of Muslim power in the first century of the Hijrah reshaped human civilisation. Islam’s transition from a religious movement to a refined civilisation contrasted sharply with the World of Ignorance’s formalism and superstition.
Islamic society prioritised moral development over material gain, with administrators displaying exemplary character. Islam’s appeal lay in faith, democracy, and state protection, rapidly expanding its influence.
It empowered adherents to strive for moral revival and justice, profoundly impacting civilisations and reform movements. Islamic teachings compelled reconsideration of doctrines, influencing even Europe’s scientific thought.
Islam’s impact on Indian culture, respect for women’s rights, and the firm belief in Allah (SWT) persisted despite social decline. The Quran’s influence prompted repentance and transformation, widely accepted even among non-Muslims
