Sadness That Leads You Home
🎧 Listen to this chapter (2 min)
So what do we take from this book?
First, do not chase sadness. The Prophet sought refuge from worry and grief, and so should we. Ask Allah for a calm heart, and for happiness that pleases Him.
Second, when sadness does come, do not waste it. Let it remind you of what matters. Let it soften you toward others who are hurting. Let it bring you back to Allah if you have drifted.
Third, choose your worries wisely. Grief for the dunya alone is against you. Concern for your soul, your family, and your akhirah, is for you.
And finally, remember where this road ends. The people of Jannah will say, all praise is for Allah who has removed grief from us. On that day, every tear you shed for His sake will be repaid, and every worry will be gone forever.
Until then, as Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz said, the joy is still ahead of you.
