Understanding Allah(SWT)’s Determinations and the Nature of Good and Evil

When we talk about Allah(SWT)’s decisions, they are always perfect and good because they come from His perfect knowledge, power, words, and will. There’s no evil in Allah(SWT)’s essence or actions. What we call evil is only seen from a human point of view and is not actually part of Allah(SWT)’s nature or actions. Sometimes what seems evil from one angle can be good from another. For example, killing disbelievers might look bad, but it can be beneficial in other ways, like stopping more wrongdoing, setting an example, and helping believers protect themselves. Similarly, pains and diseases can seem harmful but also have benefits, as discussed earlier.

Good and evil are similar to pleasure and pain but apply differently when it comes to Allah(SWT)’s decrees. For instance, cutting off a thief’s hand is painful and harmful for the thief, but it is just and wise from a bigger perspective.

Pleasure and pain are about immediate experiences, while good and evil describe the long-term results in the Hereafter. Often, immediate pleasure can lead to future pain, and immediate pain can lead to future pleasure. So, enduring pain now for eternal joy later is better than short-term pleasure that leads to long-term suffering.
